I’m now a proud owner of a Shruthi XT kit from FCD72, but there’s a couple of customizations I’d like to make to the standard set of things that come with the kit.
First of all, I’m a bit of a knob fetishist, meaning that I don’t like rubbery plastic knobs, and rather have the something more old-school. The problem is, as Frank has explained, that the pot shafts are a bit too high for most pots and hence need to be dremeld down a bit.
Since I don’t have a dremel, nor a workshop where I can perform such an operation, and my wide already hates me enough for soldering in our living room (which is one with our kitchen, our studio and our library) I’d rather not do that.
Does anyone know some good 6mm shaft knobs that look something like these:
http://www.musikding.de/Knobs/Knobs-Plastics/Metal/Black-Fluted-Silver-Center-20mm::161.html
that work with the shafts, so that I don’t have to dremel them?

Question nr.2: I’ll have to de-solder the leds on the Shruthi, since they have been soldered for the transparent case, but the programmer frontplate is opaque (with the holes). I need to raise the leds a bit to stick out into the holes. Since I always made a big mess when de-soldering leds, do you have any special tip on how to do this?

I’m not in a hurry a friend of mine will do most of the assembly job, and neither I nor he have the time to get to it right now… but I can start sourcing the remaining parts and plan the thing properly :)

 Hey team-

I haven't gotten an enclosure on my SMR4mkII Shruthi yet, because I'd really like to add a few things. You know, stuff like in/out volume knobs, 2/4pole switch, bandpass switch, FM input mod, and maybe some CV in/out. It's the CV in/out that I'm most unsure of.

Here's what I get:
The IN1>-IN4> can accept 0V to +5V.
The INs cannot control pitch value.
The CV1< and CV2< are connected to the Filter Board but go nowhere.

Here's where I ask dumb questions or say stupid things and you guys get to school me:
I would like to have 4 CV IN jacks. The jacks connect to IN>1-IN>4, respectively, and GND. What about +5V? When is that applicable?
I would like to have 2 CV OUT jacks. Can I just connect to the pins poking out the bottom of the filter board?
For the extra CV IN FM mod, it says to add resistors. Pretty clear. Can you just feed the pin an input signal? What's the difference between sending a CV signal and an audio signal? Internal audio?
What "protection" do I need on the CV INs?

Okay... I think that's all of my questions. I realize it's a lot, and I'm in the deep end of the pool. Thanks for your help!

I have lurked around on this forum for years, am building my 3rd and 4th Shruthi, amongst a whole load of other DIY music stuff however, I have reached the point in my skills and building that it is becoming imperative to learn to program. Essentially, I want to be able to program my own nifty gadgets most likely much simpler than the Shruthi and WTPA, but still adequate. Is there/are there any REALLY good resources to self teach programming? I have programmed a little bit, but I was younger, and it didn’t seem to make sense. I am a much better learner now and can generally pick things up pretty fast. Any tips?

 hi!
i have here semi builded pcb of gorf and midibox gm5x5x5 that i will not finish.
( i lack some part, and don't have the time to source them, and finally not the need for them. bought them when i was jobless for occupation, but now my free time is rare, ...)

I think the job done on them is good, but can't certify it. So if they interest you, and your name is familiar to me and to this forum, (i read this forum for a long time now) this is what i think: i send the unit to you, you payed just the postage, once it's completed and functionnal, you payed me the money. You have to be quick on it.....

i Will definitely be interested by sids chips....

open to offers...

I have a very nice Commodore 64 C, I put into a brown breadbin case with heatsinked ICs and a nice greenish monitor from philips from back in the days. I used to play around with it with the MSSIAH cart, but since I have built myself a SammichSID I don’t use it anymore (btw. If anybody is interested in a MSSIAH cart, I’d be willing to sell it). So I was wondering. Since I love my C64… what could I do with it? Play games? Maybe buy one of those 1541 Ultimate carts, or what else could I do with it? I really don’t want to sell it, but it’s just catching dust right now…

hello all! so i think this forum is full of the types of people i've been trying to find... how does one go about learning and designing synth parts. is there some book that's the bible of such things.. or do i need to go through schematics for modular parts i find online.. or? i've even been going over patents released by bob moog to try to find ideas..

i know enough EE to not blow up anything, and am pretty confident about my programming skills.. i just don't exactly know where to get started
