So I used a DIY audio probe, and hear a big difference in sound character and the inclusion of distortion between points 3 and 4. Does that mean the TL074 needs replacing? Sorry for my noobishness.

Programmer question - jack wiring
OK, on the schematic , which of course I should have looked at first!, I see that on one of the MIDI connectors, the middle pin (2) is connected to ground? So shouldn’t at least that one be connected too?

It’s a bit dated, but if you’re a Mac and Ableton user, check my Major Malfunction – it uses Cycling 74’s Pluggo, which is no longer supported/sold, and so it’s not a perfect setup on newer Ableton versions, but it still works…
