short on 4pole mission
@arch, I am one of the dumbest people on this forum so please do not be insulted when I ask this but how are you measuring continuity? Are you using a multimeter? If the voltage check is working how can there be shorts? Did you check positive and n…

You are checking for continuity between the various coloured points, without any ICs inserted? There should be no connection between the red points and blue points or red points and green points. If you are getting that many shorts, I’m wondering …

Recommendation required for Phaser/echo/delay units, preferably DIY
The Tau Pipe Phaser from Jurgen Haible is another over the top design.

@Jojjelito, that’s the one I was thinking of. I would love to try that some day.

There are DIY plans out there for phase shifters but they are fairly complicated, at least for me. I went with a Maxon stereo phase shifter and Maxon stereo chorus. Both are expensive but the phase shifter sounded fairly close to a Mutron, which …

Before I start my Shruthi, best temperature for soldering iron?
I live for the smell. Lungs and brain cells are highly over-rated.

If the solder melts, the joint is shiny, you haven’t smelled anything burning and nothing smokes except the solder flux, you hit the right temperature. I usually hold the iron to the joint, count to three (or is it two?), apply the solder and then…

Keep in mind many of the universal power supplies for guitar effects are centre negative while the Shruthi is centre positive. You may need an adapter for the Shruthi to switch the polarity.

As Andre mentioned, watch out for the direction of the trimpot. That turned out to be the problem I was having. I think I have it all adjusted now, but I can’t get the linearity to be exact. I may get 95 Hz and an octave up is 192 Hz or somethin…

Because I’m an idiot at this, it gives me a chance to try and do something idiot-proof. @nightworxx, thanks! @sammy123, you’re welcome, and Frank, of course you can post it. Just please make sure it’s correct! I hate to admit it but I did it wit…

I did manage to fit the two 820uf caps, I’m not sure why Mouser sent those specific caps as opposed to smaller versions. I’m really new at sourcing parts, thought I had mentioned that. I’ll check the BOM and re-upload it when I get a chance. Th…

Anyone with 15.000 bucks to spend ? :)
Here I am turning 55 soon, growing up in the 70s and I find myself being the owner of no analogue synths! Oh where did I go wrong!? Analogue synths are so expensive now, they must be better, right?

Nice timing @sammy123, I was just about to recall this thread for a question or two. I’ve been looking at the various photos on Frank’s flikr pages but can’t find what I think I’m looking for. This version of the PCB does not label the pins for t…

Andre, although I appreciate the explanation, I’m hoping I’m not as stupid as I may appear. I will admit to having a fairly narrow scope of things I’m proficient at. Given that I’ve been making music of some sort since the mid-1960s and using syn…

I couldn’t see anything specifically wrong with any of the boards so I re-flowed all of the solder points and removed a few modified connectors that would’ve made fitting it into my version of an XT a bit easier. I’m reading through the Ladder-Cal…
