Tiny high quality multichannel audio interface; any suggestions?
One think to keep in mind when looking at USB/FW mixers like the Alesis Multimix and the Mackie Onyx is that they usually have lots of channels going into the computer but only a stereo pair coming out of it. so if you need more outputs (for extern…

@bleo: glad to hear that! :) Remember that Alesis does not stand out for build quality and sturdiness. but for the price I find the multimix series quite ok. @nightworxx: I don’t agree, I found presonus kit to be quite sturdy and well built, some…

Solder Fume Extractor
wood dust is very dangerous and highly cancerogeneous. You really have to be careful with that. Solder fumes can cause hypersensibilisation allergy, but it’s rare and you need to be exposed to them a lot. But still, having some good ventilation won…

Can i use an adapter with 1000mA?
it’s onlyimportant that the adapter has the correct voltage 9v or 7.5v, amperage is not an issue as long as it’s not too low. As nightworxx said it’s agood idea to use the adapter to power more devices with the same rating and polarity. you should …

I found out that it’s a lot easier to solder the led flush to the PCB and then install fresnell lenses on the fontplate. Looks great with white leds, never tried other colours.

@Bleo: there’s a lot of USB interfaces with more that a pair of stereo ins and outs. we use a 16 track Alesis Multimix to record our impro sessions and it works like a charm. You’re probably referring to USB1.0 and of couse I would stay clear from …

thanks! Got it. Don’t think I’ll ever build a synth from scratch, but I think it might not hurt to know more about the inner workings even just to design the panels for them.

Anyone with 15.000 bucks to spend ? :)
you can build that with a couple of 555s… well not really, still not worth it. but then if it cost 500€ I’d buy it right away! :) You know what, the problem with vintage gear prices is collectors with too much money.

btw. if I’m not mistaken, modular gear usually has a hotter output (about 10ppV) whereas consumer lever line output has roughly 1ppV and pro grade equipment outputs around 4ppV.

Or you can find some DIY bassdrum modules around… If you want to use your modular to process external audio there is some specialized modules to deal with the level, but honestly so far it’s been working fine without one. You need some mixers, VCA…

yeah to the one who should not spend money in modules now… but I couldn’t resist. And anyway, it’s all Olivier’s fault, I’ve been bravely resisting the modular temptation for years! :D

And another thing has to be said. If you are a very big company producing thousands of devices, having them assembled in China and using cheap components, then of course you can make low prices, but if you pay a lot of attention on the quality, hav…

I think it’s a fair price for the kind of module. try and have a look at what other companies sell their modules for: http://www.schneidersladen.de/category/de-hersteller/de-cwejman
