I do. A lot. So I got those mini-modules made to make my life easier:

Anybody interested in getting some of those?
One thing to keep in mind is that there is no standard for breadboard spacing… I think MicMicMan’s breadboard is too large for those modules. Those modules are for breadboards in which the gap between row 2 and row 3 is 7.5mm. Looks like MicMIcMan’s has 10mm.
I’m very interested. I’ve already got some stuff like this for other projects and this would sure make it easier to start experimenting with audio. So yes please… I’m in!
When do you think you might have the PCBs made?
Know what else might be cool but I’m not sure it’s doable… Simple VCO and VCF breakout boards. Nothing special, just enough to make it easy to hook up noise and filter it with breakouts to make changes. Doable or too much for little boards like this?
I had 10 of each of those made and plan to reorder more. Doing boards is expensive (about $80 tooling), but I really needed those because I breadboard a lot and I always waste time rebuilding the same things or getting hurt by parts that pop out of the breadboard :D I’d be happy if selling those 10 and another 25 or 50 paid back the tooling.
If you want a VCO / VCF breakout board, buy an entry level Doepfer module and remove the panel. I won’t be able to be cheaper than that!
The ones in the middle (which I haven’t assembled yet) are for a pair of PCB-mounted pots (same style as on the Shruthi) ; and 4 vertical, PCB-mounted, 3.5mm jack (Lumberg 1502 03)
I rarely breadboard MIDI stuff without a MCU – so I’d rather see this stuff done on “shields”, “capes” or whatever it is called, for the microcontroller development board of your choice…
First, to make things clear, I will sell only the PCBs.
I haven’t check seeed’s prices recently. Last time I checked it was getting cheaper for volumes < 50 – but it’s true it was for a bigger board. I should have thought about them…
I have no intention of turning into sparkfun or adafruit, so this project will be the exception to the rule :)
These are finally available. It took that long because I realized that the footprint for the jacks worked only for the Reichelt part… which was out of stock. So I waited it came back in stock to bundle it with the boards and avoid you sourcing hassle. I actually got all the connectors / annoying parts and bundled them with the boards.

...ordered…
S glad to see this…
Will definitely be in my next order. Just got to postpone that moment a bit to let the plastic fatigue on my card heal a bit.
@pichenettes,
Is it likely that these will run out or will you keep a stock of these for some time? (i.e. can’t order now, but would like to when it comes time to get another Shruthi)
Also, It’s too bad Mouser or Newark doesn’t stock those switching jacks, they cost too much to source for small batches with $20 flat shipping. Can’t understand why Newark US doesn’t stock this or something compatible. Would like to just get pcbs as everything else I have on-hand.
This is not something I intend to continue selling. I got a small quantity done to amortize the PCB tooling cost and because I figured out I wouldn’t be the only one needing that, that’s all…
I don’t think it’s your style Olivier but this idea would make a great low-cost modular synth format. Just plug some modules on a breadboard and use jumper wires to connect all the signals and cv’s.
Ordered 2 sets …
Nice. Ordered…
Any ideas about socketing the regulators?
I might need different voltages on the psu one.
Great idea, I ordered a set, probably could do with about 5 sets of the pot one though :)
Hi Olivier.. do you still have those available ? I was looking for the ‘sale’ thread / url but only could find this one.
Thanks
Marc.
Haha. I was looking for the ‘buddies’ keyword. Close but no cigar :)
Thanks !
Oh yeah, been meaning to get those.
Like these lots, Oliver. I notice there’s a place in the main site quoting these. Is that a separate deal or the same as this?
